Nonprofit applicants must maintain registration with the Vermont Secretary of State and provide a current certificate of good standing from the Vermont Department of Taxes. Applications require a memorandum of understanding with at least one Vermont-based veterans service organization and submission of staff credentials demonstrating training in VA benefits navigation through the state’s Veterans Affairs office.
The Vermont Department of Health publishes county-level data on veteran suicide rates and housing instability. Programs proposing services in counties where rates exceed the state average must attach the most recent county profile and detail coordination protocols with the Vermont National Guard’s family readiness program.
